Lovedale partners with a UK college

The British Council (BC) is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Through the BC, Lovedale was able to partner with Bridgend College in Wales.

The aim of the partnerships is to support Skills for Employability. The colleges will share best practices on the following principles:

  • How to support SMME’s (Entrepreneurship)
  • Industry Engagement
  • Curriculum Development

Lovedale's visit to Bridgend College

Three Lovedale College representatives visited Bridgend College from 5 to 13 May 2018. These representatives were chosen based on their relevance in achieving objectives set out in the partnership agreement regarding entrepreneurship, skills and curriculum. The representatives were: Glen Jacobs - Zwelitsha Campus Manager (Engineering Campus); Ms Lizeka Kosani - Assistant Director: Partnerships and Skills and Juanita Verster - Acting Principal and formerly Vice-Principal: Academic Services.

An interesting tour was delivered by five apprentices, who were about to complete their apprenticeships. Above:  A visit to TATA Steel plant in Port Talbot, followed by a visit to Renishaw, to view state of the art machinery and workshops.
