BankSeta AAT Learnership students with Lovedale TVET College staff
Lovedale College has been granted the opportunity to offer internationally recognised qualifications in the accounting field. The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) (SA) and BankSeta have made it possible for Lovedale to be fully accredited to offer AAT programmes/qualifications.
Lovedale started to be involved with AAT (SA) projects in 2015 as a pilot project. In 2016 Lovedale was able to roll out the qualification: Level 4 - Further Educations & Training (FET) Certificate - Accounting Technician. The project is funded by BankSeta through AAT(SA).
Originally we managed to enrol 62 learners who were recruited by AAT, but a number of them have dropped out for various reasons and we currently have 42 learners. Challenges are dealt with as quickly and effectively as possible, and Lovedale is managing the online international assessments quite well.
The beauty about the AAT(SA) qualification is that learners can access careers in finance and accounting for those who are still seeking a job, and they are enabled to make a truly positive contribution to their business, department or unit if they are already employed.
The qualification is based on real-world knowledge, supported by in-depth expertise. Its value is so widely known that firms like Vodafone, Telkom, and Toyota actively seek AAT qualified staff for their knowledge, skills, diligence and enthusiasm.
Lovedale College is really committed to the programme and is looking forward to continuing to offer it in the future.
